8 Facts About Me You Won’t Find on the ‘About Me’ Page
For those of you who are new here, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I wanted to share 8 facts about me—things you might not find on the “About Me” page of my website.
1- Persian is my first language. I learned English and French in my adult years in Iran.
2- I immigrated to Canada at the age of 25, all alone. I moved here with a suitcase of clothes, without knowing anyone on this entire continent.
3- I have an undergraduate degree in French literature from Iran and a master’s degree in educational linguistics from Canada. I’ve never done any post-secondary education in my first language!
4- I grew up reading classic Russian literature. I loved Dostoevsky so much that I even started learning Russian. It was difficult, so I quit and forgot most of it—but I can still read in the Russian alphabet!
5- Sports are an important part of my life. I grew up practicing karate and later chose boxing in my adult years. A friend told me to mention that I box—so here I am! Physical movement has been a powerful guide in navigating my colorful life as an Iranian woman.
6- One of my favorite things in life is sitting 1:1 with people and reading their charts with them. It’s deeply meaningful to connect with a soul, explore their inner world, and witness the insight and reflection the oracle can bring.
7- I love tattoos and will probably continue getting more—I don’t know until when! The last one I got is the word “IRAN” in Persian.
8- My name is an ancient Persian name from Persian Mythology. “Shahrzad” was the storyteller of 1001 Nights who saved the lives of many girls through storytelling. Each night, she told the king a tale, leaving it unfinished so he would return. After 1,001 nights, the king was so moved by her wisdom that he stopped killing women.
